Faith Formation at St. Margaret Mary is not just for children. The approach of Come to the Table is intergenerational and liturgically based. Monthly sessions begin with the Saturday 5:00 pm liturgy followed by a meal and a catechetical experience for all ending at 8:00 pm.

November 17, 2012   “Baptism:  A New Beginning”

Learning Objectives
  What happens to us when we are baptized?
  What are the symbols of baptism?
  Why is the font placed near the entrance of the church?
  What is contained in the ambry?
  Where and when are the oils consecrated and blessed?

December 15, 2012   “The word Becomes Flesh – A New Kind of Family”

Learning Objectives
  Discussion of family – its role and purpose
  Why are these statues in our churches?
  Why do we call Jesus, Mary and Joseph the Holy Family?
  Do Catholics ‘worship’ Mary and Joseph or ‘honor’ them?
  How are we a ‘family’ that gathers each week to celebrate together?

January 19, 2013      “3 Sacraments of Initiation –The New Beginning in Christ”

Learning Objectives
  What is a sacrament in Catholic teaching?
  What are the sacraments of initiation?
  How do the crucifix and stain glass windows depict these sacraments?
  What are we called to be as fully initiated members of the Body of Christ?
  What are we to do as full members of the Church – the Body of Christ?

 

February 16, 2013         “Lent, and the Stations of the Cross”

Learning Objectives
  Walk through the 14 stations and identify them in the Passion Narratives
  What do we do during Lent?  Why?

 

March 16, 2013       “The Sacrament of Reconciliation – Another New Beginning”

Learning Objectives
  What is sin?
  Why is ‘reconciliation’ important in our lives?
  Review and Explain the format of Reconciliation.
  Prepare participants for the Rite of Penance this evening.  Several  priests will be available to hear the confessions of everyone from grade 2 through adults.
