Youth Instrumentalists

The St. Margaret Mary Youth Instrumental program offers intermediate level music students the opportunity of being formed in the faith while performing music. In a group setting, students learn valuable musical skills while developing an understanding of the liturgy and how it applies to their daily lives. Our mission is for students to develop and use their musical gifts while increasing their understanding of God’s work in their lives.

This  is an opportunity for SMM parish  to incorporate into the Sunday liturgy the musical talents of our youth instrumentalists.  This program includes arrangements and accompaniments tailored to the progressive skill level of the members. The program includes ensemble playing for all who are involved as well as solo accompanying for more advanced students.  This opportunity is open by audition to all youth who are in their third year (or more) of private instruction.  Mr. Chaz Shipman, local music teacher and parishioner, is the director of the ensemble. However, guest conductors will participate.  Youth are responsible for attending rehearsals and maintaining their commitment to the ensemble.   All participants provide their own instrument and music stand.  Although this may change in the future, we regret that we cannot at this time accommodate guitarists.
