Preparation For The Sacraments Of Reconciliation, Confirmation And First Eucharist

In 1991, the Diocese of Greensburg announced a change in policy for the age of reception of Confirmation. With this change the Diocese has restored the order of the Sacraments of Initiation for children baptized in infancy. These sacraments are available for those children who have reached the age of reason, 7 years old. Typically that occurs in the second grade.
Since parental involvement in Catechesis is essential to the on-going formation of the child, it is necessary that the parent/guardian participate in preparation by attending the Parent sessions, as well as the Intergenerational sessions for the child and family members for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Eucharist.
The child preparing for the sacraments must be baptized and if baptized in a parish other than St. Margaret Mary, must submit a baptismal certificate when registering for the sacramental preparation sessions. For further information concerning these sacraments, please contact Joan Duncan at jduncan@smm-parish.org or 724-335-2336.

"Christian initiation is accomplished by three sacraments together: Baptism which is the beginning of new life; Confirmation which is its strengthening; and the Eucharist which nourishes the disciple with Christ’s Body and Blood for his transformation in Christ.” “The Christian home is the place where children receive the first proclamation of the faith. For this reason the family home is rightly called “the domestic church” a community of grace and prayer, a school of human virtues and of Christian charity."
